Q: How do I create my role on Hatch?

It's easy peasy to create a role on Hatch. Check out this 4 min video walk through from our lovely Customer Success Manager Erosha, or follow the steps below.

  • Click the ‘Create a role’ button to begin a new role.

  • Enter the eligibility criteria about your role, including title, location, contract type, visa requirements, the number of vacancies, and seniority

  • Enter the primary & secondary responsibilities of the role (e.g. lead qualification)

  • Enter the strengths (characteristics that are important for the role) that you'd like to see. We've suggested the strengths that are typically the best fit, but you can

  • Select the mini work task for the candidate to complete: The mini task allows you to capture the ability of the candidate against the primary responsibility (e.g. lead qualification)

  • Review and publish your role!

Q: How long will it take me to create my role on Hatch?

About 10 to 15 minutes - you’ll use personalized steps that reduce clunky admin.

It’s best to create your role in one session, but don’t worry - you can review all of your details before publishing. Once you’ve created a role, you can re-use some of its existing information to publish future roles even faster.

Q: How long will it take to receive candidates?

You'll receive candidates in your dashboard's inbox as soon as they submit their application.

Q: Can I share my published role with a colleague?

Yes! Once your role is live, you can copy the link and send it to anyone in your team.

Q: Can I make changes to my role after it is published?

Edits can’t be made after the role is published on your end, but we know things can come up! If you need to make any edits to a live role, email us at and we’ll help you out.

Q: How do I review candidates?

  • Head to your inbox to review new candidates

  • Go through each candidate profile and review their eligibility, skills, and work-task

  • Add feedback and share with your colleagues

  • Decide if you want to shortlist the candidates, or decline candidates.

Q: What do each of the stages mean?

  • Inbox: New candidates for you to review

  • Shortlisted: Candidates you'd like to shortlist before deciding to interview

  • Progressed: Candidates you'd like to interview

  • Declined: Candidates you've decided not to move forward with. We provide you with a templated email to send declined candidates through our platform.

Q: How do I share applications with my colleagues?

There’s a button on the dashboard to invite other team members to your role.

Q: What's communicated to candidates from Hatch?

After submitting their application candidates are told that their application will appear on the Hiring Manager dashboard. It can take up to 2 weeks to hear if they'll be progressed, although often sooner.

Q: How do I get in contact with the candidate to interview them?

You'll find their contact details on the shortlist profile and can reach out to them directly to set up the interviews.

Q: I want to hire for multiple and/or different roles. Do I create them all at the same time?

If you’re hiring multiple people for the same role, simply create a role and there’s a step for you to specify the number of vacancies available.

If you’re hiring different roles, you’ll need to create each one separately. Stay tuned, Hatch is working on new features that will allow you to duplicate roles in the future.

Q: Does Hatch take care of visa screening and background checks?

Yes, you can request for applications to undergo visa screening and/or police background checks. We'll take care of the rest. note that this service is an additional fee.

Q: How do I integrate Hatch with sourcing channels, such as my Applicant Tracking System, LinkedIn, and Indeed etc.?

You can use the sourcing channels you love. There are two ways to do it:

  1. From your job posts via job boards (e.g. LinkedIn and Indeed): Use the link of your Hatch role in your job post. When candidates hit ‘Apply’, they are directed to Hatch.

  2. From your ATS (e.g. Lever, Greenhouse and Workable): Send an automated email to notify candidates that you’ve received their application and direct them to Hatch, using the link of your Hatch role.

Hatch Tip: If you have an existing ATS, we recommend integrating Hatch for the best level of candidate engagement and lower drop-offs.

Q: I don’t have an Applicant Tracking System. How do l use Hatch for my open role?

You can still publish your role to job boards like LinkedIn, Seek, Indeed, Glassdoor, Stack Overflow and many more. See {here} for a detailed guide to integrating Hatch with different job boards. Below are two ways to integrate Hatch with your LinkedIn.

For Recruiter or Recruiter Lite accounts

  • Sign in to your Recruiter or Recruiter Lite account on LinkedIn.

  • Hover over ‘Jobs’ at the top of the Recruiter homepage and select ‘Post a Job’.

  • Complete the fields provided to add your company and job details.

  • When asked how you would like people to apply, select ‘Direct applicants to an external site to apply’.

  • Add the Hatch application link (our Customer Success team will send this to you).

  • Deselect ‘Let candidates apply with their LinkedIn profile and notify me by email’.

For non-Recruiter accounts

  • Click the ‘Jobs’ icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.

  • Click the ‘Post a Job’ button.

  • Complete the fields provided on the ‘Job Details’ page.

  • When asked how you would like to receive your applicants, select ‘Direct applicants to an external site to apply’.

  • Add the Hatch application link (our Customer Success team will send this to you).

  • Deselect ‘Let candidates apply with their LinkedIn profile and notify me by email’
