This article is designed to help you understand who is Hatch, and how to apply for roles through our platform.

Q: First up, who is Hatch?

Hatch is a talent matching platform for junior roles. We provide candidates in the early stages of their career with access to meaningful work opportunities, and an application experience that allows you to showcase your true self to a network of leading companies.

Q: How do I apply for a role on Hatch?

  1. Confirm your personal details (name, email address, and phone number)

  2. Tell us a bit more about you, including basic demographic information, recent education and previous experience

  3. Show off your role fit through experience questions and a mini work task.

We don't believe resumes are the best indicator of skill fit for junior roles. As such, our application experience looks at your transferable skills. To complete your application you'll submit text responses (roughly 100-250 words each) that show off these transferable skills. Most roles also include a pre-recorded video application, which you will submit in addition to task responses. Role applications take about 30 minutes to complete.

Q: What happens after I apply?

Once you've completed your application, Hatch shares this with the hiring manager, who'll then assess your application and decide if you're a good fit to interview. You'll receive an outcome within about 2 weeks of submitting your application (but usually much earlier).

Q: Are any parts of my application for a given role re-usable? Or am I able to download my application?

Not yet, although this feature is coming soon! In the meantime we suggest that you make a copy of your written responses in the application for other job opportunities.

Q: I haven’t received the verification email for my account. What should I do?

It can take up to 15 minutes for your account verification email to come through, so please sit tight and check your spam and junk folders. If you do not receive the verification email after 15 minutes, please contact us at ask@hatch.team

Q: What happens if I “opt-in” to receiving notifications for roles?

You’ll receive an email summary weekly of roles that appear to be a great fit for you, based on the strength of your previous applications through Hatch. You can opt-out of receiving these notifications at any time - e.g. once you’ve landed your dream role!

Q: What is the purpose of supplementary links for my profile?

Supplementary links are a great opportunity to show off your strengths and experiences to employers. We care about more than just your CV - we want to get to know the real you and learn about your passion projects and experiences that might not fit on an A4 page. You may like to provide a link to your LinkedIn profile, a portfolio of previous work, or a personal website you have built. You are not required to upload supplementary links, but it is highly encouraged.

Q: Can I download my profile, or share it with employers outside of Hatch?

Unfortunately, we don't currently support the functionality to download or re-use parts of your application for other job opportunities. However, we are always working on new features to expand the value of your Hatch profile and job applications, so we encourage you to keep an eye out for updates on Hatch!

Q: Why does Hatch ask for a profile picture if the platform aims to reduce bias?

We find that these personal details humanise your application and bring your experience to life. While we do ask you to submit a profile picture, you’re welcome to simply submit a black or white square if you would not like to provide this information.

Q: Why does Hatch require a CV? Do I need to upload one for my application to be considered?

Hatch requires you to upload a CV with your application because many of our employer partners include a CV review as a default aspect of their candidate screening process. While we do require your CV, we make sure to highlight many aspects of your application to prospective employers, including your supplementary links, work challenge and video application!

Q: I’d like Hatch to delete my data. How do I de-activate my account?

You can de-activate your account at any time. Simply email us at ask@hatch.team with the subject line “de-activate my account” and we will oblige!
