Hiring on Hatch is kept simple, with only two costs:
An annual platform fee, which covers access to our talent pool, AI matching and support. We have three plans built to flex with your early career hiring needs. You can get started for free on our Free plan.
Your Hatchie's hours, which is the cost of the hours your Hatchie actually works, based on their pay rate. These are invoiced separately from your platform fee.
The sections below cover each one in turn.
Platform fees
Free has no platform fee, Plus has a yearly platform fee, and Enterprise is priced to suit your team. If you hire through Hatch Students, you're also charged for your Hatchie's hours, which are invoiced separately.

All prices are in AUD. Platform fees are billed annually + GST. Your Hatchie's hours are billed separately, on top of your plan fee. Posting a direct hire job is free on every plan.
Every plan includes:
Students and graduates across Australia: access to a national talent pool of verified students and recent graduates, who are ready to take on real work.
Unlimited users and applications: no per-user fees and no cap on how many applications you receive.
Applicants assessed against your job: Hatch’s AI checks every application against the key criteria you set, puts the best fits at the top, and gives each applicant a fit summary and scored answers (see Reviewing applications).
Employment admin handled for every Hatchie: Hatch is the employer of record for all Hatchies and looks after payroll, super, insurance and contracts (see Hatch as your employer of record).
Showcase your employer brand with a company profile: add team reels and custom content blocks so applicants can see who your team is and what it's like to work with you.
Free direct hire job posts: post unlimited jobs where you employ the person yourself, like permanent jobs or graduate programs. These don't count towards your placement limit.
Hatchie hours
On top of your platform fee, you're charged for the hours your Hatchie actually works, based on their pay rate.
Base pay rates start at $33.71 to $43.21 an hour, depending on whether you're hiring a current student or a recent graduate. After superannuation, on-costs and a 15% Hatch fee, you're invoiced $46.78 to $60.79 an hour (excluding GST), depending on the type of hire and the state they work in. You can always choose to pay above the suggested base rates.
Placement limits
What counts towards my limit? Each offer that's accepted counts as one placement. Sending an offer doesn't use one up until the student accepts, and declined offers don't count. Direct hire jobs don't count either.

Invoices and payment
How your platform fees are invoiced
Billing: platform fees are billed annually, plus GST. We invoice you directly.
When you're invoiced: at the start of each billing cycle.
Your plan invoice is separate from your Hatchie invoices, which cover their pay, super, on-costs and the Hatch fee, and from the one-off invoice for pre-employment checks.
How your Hatchie's hours are invoiced
When you make an offer, you set your Hatchie's estimated hours each week and how long the placement will run. We use these with their hourly rate to estimate the total cost of the placement. Hourly rates vary depending on the job, the state they work in and the pay rate you choose. See how much students are paid and what you're charged.
By default, you prepay this estimated total in two instalments, so you can plan your budget ahead:
Once the placement is confirmed: we invoice 50% of the estimated total placement cost.
Halfway through the placement: you pay the remaining 50% of the estimated total placement cost. If the estimated total has changed significantly since the placement started, for example because your Hatchie is working a lot more or fewer hours than planned, we'll adjust this invoice to match.
Each week: you approve your Hatchie’s timesheet. We pay them fortnightly from your prepayment based on the approved hours.
Each month: you receive a summary of the remaining balance on your prepayment so you can keep track of placement costs.
If you extend the placement: you pay 50-100% of the estimated extension cost upfront depending on how long the extension is for. See Shortening or extending the placement.
At the end of the placement: we compare the hours your Hatchie actually worked with what you've prepaid. If they worked more, we invoice you for the difference. If they worked less, the unused amount becomes a credit towards future placements, or we can arrange a refund.
💡 Example: you hire a marketing student in NSW to join your team for 15 hours a week over 12 weeks. You offer them a pay rate of $35.75 per hour (excluding super), so you are invoiced $50 per hour (excluding GST).
Estimated total: 15 hours × 12 weeks × $50 = $9,000
Once the placement is confirmed, you're invoiced $4,500 (50%).
At week 6, you pay the remaining $4,500.
Each week, your Hatchie's approved hours are paid from this prepayment. If they work 15 hours, that week's $750 invoice is deducted from your prepayment.
If they work more than the estimated hours, for example 3 extra hours over the whole placement, you are invoiced for those hours ($150) at the end of the placement.
If you've agreed different payment terms with Hatch, your invoicing may vary.
